Leg extension

Leg extension is a beginner-friendly squat movement that trains quads, done with a machine. It's an isolation-style movement — useful for targeted work once the bigger compound lifts are done. Typical rep range is 12–20 reps, tempo 2-1-1.

The most common mistake is kicking the weight up with momentum. If a machine or the movement itself doesn't suit you, Wall sit or Split squat or Leg press cover the same pattern. It's usually held back for knee issues — a coach or the substitution list is the safer route on a flare-up.
